The goal of the practicum is to provide guided practice of the skills used in Orton-Gillingham. Participants will need to secure a student to work with for 7 one hour sessions. Apply your new Basic Orton-Gillingham skills by directly working one-on-one with your student. A practicum supervisor will observe you or a video of your session and provide immediate feedback. You will prepare and administer the Gallistel-Ellis assessment to your student on day one and then you will receive guidance for determining a plan of action for 6 more lessons with your student. Before teaching each lesson, you will submit your lesson plan to your practicum supervisor for approval who will make suggestions for changes. 10 PGP’s can be awarded for successful completion of the practicum.
Once you contract for a practicum, you will have 12 months to complete it. If you’re unable to complete the practicum within that time period, then you forfeit your payment.
This course will take place at the Dii office, in person. Please see signup or bottom of this page for the address.
