About Dii

We serve students, parents, adults and educators who are impacted by dyslexia and other language learning difficulties through several primary programs using the Orton-Gillingham approach.

Our History
  • 1989 & 1990

    1989 Dii was incorporated 1990 Camp Delafield was held for the first time

  • 1992

    Half of all students who attended Camp Delafield received scholarships. A Reading Place for Adults was launched to support adult literacy.

  • 1995

    Betty Wells donated money and allowed Dii to begin outreach tutoring - Wells Outreach Tutoring Services was first launched. This enabled Dii to provide services year round for the first time, instead of only in the summer.

  • 2006

    The Nina Mason Pulliam Trust gave Dii a major grant that enabled us to launch the ReadySetREAD program in schools.

  • 2014

    Dii is 25 years old. Camp Delafield has served over 1,000 students and Wells Outreach Tutoring Services has impacted 2,474 people. Educator training reached nearly 2,500 individuals ReadySetREAD reached nearly 1,290 students

  • 2025

    Dii is 36 years strong! Camp Delafield, Wells Outreach Tutoring Services, ReadySetREAD, and Educational Testing continue to grow and evolve to meet community needs.

Founding Mothers

A group of thoughtful and determined moms came together because they realized that their children were not learning how to read as expected. When they researched the resources available in Indiana they were surprised to find out that they had to leave the state to find the help their children needed. It was not enough for them to help their own children, they realized that there were other kids out there who also needed help. We call these women our "Founding Mothers".
